Vintage Mod Swing Top

Entry 3 for STW2010
McCalls 5388. I'll definitely sew this pattern again, with mods. It is really comfy and flattering! I used a vintage sheet, and some really cool mod fabric I got for sewlovefabric, my favorite etsy fabric shop! I picked her "Scrap Pack", and she totally let me tell her what I wanted in it! LOVE it!

Found this awesome knit fabric on the clearance table at Joann's. Whole top cost less than 2 bucks! I sort of modeled it after Adrianna's top over at Crafterhours. Super comfy!

Okay- so maybe not like a scrub top. Actually quite comfy and flattering! I love the "Kimono" style combined with the shirring in the back. All trimmed in lovely twill tape! I sewed the twill tape on in matching blue thread, it's really quite pretty!

Not very on top of things...

Well, as far as Spring Top Week goes: one top looks like a nightie.
Although it does have some really cool hot pink bias tape going on

One looks like a skirt .

Hmmm, this is the actual Spring Top from last year. Maybe it just photographs well on a model...

One looks like scrubs

Although I think it has potential. I made my own pattern by tracing my favorite GAP top. Great for nursing, too! And trimmed in twill tape. Which the Crafterhours gals would appreciate.

This is what I really want to cut into. But I'm afraid I'll ruin it, too. Sigh...

Spring Top Week

So, MadeByRae is hosting Spring Top Week. I have been sewing for roughly 15 years. It has been at least 14 since I sewed anything for myself. Anything. Hubs has been driving me crazy for a year to sew him "sweat-pads". Ewww, I know. But other than that, all of my sewing has been for the under 4' set.

So, I decided it was time.

Can't be that hard, right?

Well, I started with McCalls 5338 (pics on that to come)

It looks like a nightie. Maybe it doesn't help that I used an actual bedsheet as the body. Vintage. But still...

I decided to give Rae's last year top a try. With mods. I've been obsessed with Bias Tape lately. So, I made all of this wonderful lady-bug chandelier bias tape yesterday to use as straps, and the top of the bodice. Somebody else thought it was pretty wonderful, too. And yummy. Slobbered all of my pressing right out of it.

The look on her face. "Who? Me?"

Dear Easter Grass,

You are like that obnoxious relative that I have to invite every year. Nobody really likes you, but everyone is too polite to say so. You stay too long, drink too much, talk too loudly, and tell embarassing stories.

Really.

It is April 27th, and you are still lurking around in my guest room. I know you're unemployed and all, but really...Go look for work or something. I'm tired of you hanging around my house.

If you keep this up, you won't be invited back next year. I mean it.

I'm back!

Okay- I read all of these great craft blogs out there, I mean my google reader is full! I think to myself all of the time- I can do that! (Blog- not craft, I know I can craft)

I mean, is there a "Blogging for Dummys"? Not that I'm a dummy- : )

Anyways, I'm going to try to post twice a week. That seems pretty doable. Just like I fold the laundry- oh wait, that's twice a month. No, seriously. It just moves from our bed to the bench on our room, back to the bed. So, bear with me as I figure this out. Here's a few pics to tide you over until I start posting great tutorials.
(How do I get the pics in the post? Not at the top? )
Hmmm, how do I call that something else? Help, bloggers of the world!
